# Microsoft 365 Backup Billing

Microsoft 365 Backup is billed monthly based on the number of **Protected Users** in your backup jobs, plus any applicable **OneDrive storage overage**.

Most Microsoft 365 backup storage is included at no additional storage charge.

### What You Are Billed For

| Charge               | How it works                                                                            |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Protected Users** | Billed per protected Microsoft 365 member user, per month |
| **OneDrive Overage** | Billed when a protected user's selected OneDrive exceeds the included storage allowance |

Current pricing and included OneDrive storage are shown in your eazyBackup account.

### What Is a Protected User?

A Protected User is a Microsoft 365 member user included in your active backup jobs.

A user may be included because:

* You selected the user's mailbox, calendar, contacts, tasks, or OneDrive.
* The user is a member of a selected Microsoft Teams team or Microsoft 365 Group.
* The user is a member of a selected SharePoint site.

Each user is counted **only once**, even if they appear in several backup selections. For example, a user selected individually who is also a member of a protected Team and SharePoint site still counts as one Protected User.

#### What does not count as a Protected User?

The following are not billed as Protected Users:

* Guest users
* Shared mailboxes
* Room and equipment mailboxes
* Directory-only accounts with no Microsoft 365 licence, mailbox, or OneDrive

These resources may still be available for backup where supported, but they do not increase your Protected User count.

### OneDrive Storage

Each Protected User with **OneDrive selected for backup** receives an included OneDrive storage allowance.

If a user's OneDrive exceeds the included allowance, only the amount above the allowance is billed as overage.

OneDrive usage is measured using the storage size reported by Microsoft 365 — it is **not based on the size of the backup stored by eazyBackup**.

### What Storage Is Included?

There is no additional per-GB backup storage charge for most Microsoft 365 workloads, including:

* Exchange mailboxes
* Microsoft Teams
* Microsoft 365 Groups
* SharePoint
* Planner
* OneNote

Your Microsoft 365 backup data is also separate from regular e3 Object Storage usage and is not added to your normal object storage bill.

### How Monthly Usage Is Calculated

Microsoft 365 Backup uses **peak monthly usage**.

We measure your Protected User count and OneDrive overage throughout the billing period. Your invoice is based on the **highest usage recorded during that billing period**.

For example, if your Protected User count changes from:

**20 → 35 → 15**

during the month, your bill for that period is based on **35 Protected Users**.

Reducing your backup selections can lower your usage for the **next billing period**, but it does not reduce a peak that has already been recorded during the current period.

### Viewing Your Current Usage

You can view your Microsoft 365 Backup usage and billing information from your eazyBackup account.

The **Usage & Billing** section shows information such as:

* Current Protected Users
* Peak Protected Users for the current billing period
* OneDrive usage and overage
* Estimated billing for the current period

When creating or editing a backup job, the backup wizard also displays an estimate of how your selections affect the number of Protected Users.

#### In Summary

Your monthly Microsoft 365 Backup charge is:

**Protected Users + any applicable OneDrive overage**

There are no separate per-GB storage charges for Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, Groups, Planner, or OneNote backup data.
