# How billing works

Peak storage billing, egress allowance, ingress and API pricing, and how Dashboard, Billing, and Historical Stats relate.

e3 Object Storage is billed in **Canadian dollars (CAD)** on a monthly cycle aligned with your client account service period.

## Storage pricing

| Storage | **$9 per TiB / month** (\~$0.00878 per GiB / month)                                   |
| Minimum | Usage under 1 TiB in a period is billed at the **$9** monthly minimum when applicable |

## Peak usage billing

Storage is billed on **peak usage** during the billing period — the **maximum stored data (GiB)** recorded at any point in the period, not the average.

**Example:** If you store 100 GiB most of the month but spike to 120 GiB once, that month’s storage charge is based on **120 GiB**.

### Why peak?

* Predictable reconciliation — your invoice reflects the highest capacity you needed.

## Ingress, egress, and API

Peak egress allowance is tied to your monthly billing cycle and peak stored data for that cycle.

## Three numbers you will see in the UI

| **Current Usage**         | Dashboard, Billing        | Live stored bytes right now.                            |
| **Billable Usage** / peak | Billing, Historical Stats | Highest storage in the period — drives storage charges. |
| **Current MTD Balance**   | Billing                   | Running estimated charge in CAD for the period so far.  |

**Current MTD Balance** is an estimate from metered usage; your client account invoice is the final charge.

## FAQs

### How is peak determined?

Usage is sampled continuously. The highest GiB value in the billing period is used for storage billing.

### Can I export usage history?

Yes — **Historical Stats → Export** (CSV). See Historical Stats.

### Does each User get a separate bill?

No. All Root and User storage and transfer roll up to your **e3 Object Storage** service invoice.

### e3 Cloud Backup on the same account?

If you also subscribe to **e3 Cloud Backup**, that product has separate metering. The **Billing** tab may show an **e3 Cloud Backup Usage** card when applicable — that is not object storage billing.
